  • (1/3 cup) red onion, finely chopped
  • (2 Tbsp.) ni├žoise olives, pitted and chopped
  • (1 Tbsp.) fresh lemon juice
  • (1/4 tsp.) kosher salt
  • (1/4 tsp.) freshly ground black pepper
  • (6 oz. can) premium oil-packed tuna, drained
  • (1) hard-cooked large egg, chopped
  • (1/4 cup) fresh basil, thinly sliced
  • (2 tsp.) extra-virgin olive oil
  • (8 oz.) whole-wheat French bread baguette, halved horizontally
  • (1 clove) garlic, halved
  • (1 cup) plum tomato, thinly sliced



French Tuna Sub Sandwich

A whole-wheat French baguette rubbed with garlic and basil olive oil then filled with a lemon tuna and egg salad.

  1. 1In a medium bowl, stir together red onion, olives, lemon juice, salt, pepper, tuna and hard boiled egg, set aside.
  2. 2Whisk together basil and oil, set aside.
  3. 3Remove insides of both sides of the bread, leaving an inch. Rub cut garlic on insides of bread, top with basil mixture. On the bottom half, layer tuna and tomatoes, then the baguette top.
  4. 4Wrap in plastic wrap and set aside 20 minutes, then cut and serve.
