Ingredients:
  • (2 cups) all-purpose flour
  • (1/2 cup plus 3 Tbsp.) unsweetened cocoa, divided
  • (1 1/2 tsp.) baking powder
  • (1 tsp.) ground cinnamon
  • (1/4 tsp.) ground cloves
  • (1/4 tsp.) salt
  • (3/4 cup) granulated sugar
  • (1/2 cup) butter or margarine, softened
  • (1 large) egg
  • (1/2 cup) whole milk
  • (1/4 cup) boiling water
  • (1 1/4 cups) confectioners’ sugar

Chocolate Glazed Cookies

Sweet cocoa cookies striped with a chocolate glaze.

    Instructions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 400°F. Mix together flour, cocoa, baking powder, cinnamon, cloves and salt in a medium bowl, set aside.
  2. 2In a large bowl, use an electric mixer on low to beat together granulated sugar and butter until combined. Increase to High and beat until creamy, decrease back to low and beat in
    egg.
  3. 3Alterately add flour and milk, starting and ending with flour, beating well after each addition.
  4. 4Dust your hands with cocoa. Roll 1 Tbsp. dough into 1 in. balls and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 7-9 minutes. Cool on a wire rack with waxed paper
    underneath.
  5. 5In a medium bowl, whisk together cocoa and boiling water. While stirring, add confectioners sugar. Use a spoon to stripe the top of each cookie with glaze and place back on wire rack to set 20 minutes.
